Interview and other things
I moved over the holidays… when will it stop! I hope this time to stay put for AT LEAST a year. Goodness, I hope so.
A few months ago the lovely Charlotte Cooper interviewed me for their awesome blog Obesity Timebomb. Check it out!
I’m back in school again, working on various film projects for my classes. I am also working on a Embodied Activism workshop with my sweetheart. The info about that is below. If you live in the Portland area and would like to participate, please get in touch with me! We would love to have you.
Other news:
I started a new silly blog for myself for the year. I am trying to cook a new recipe every week so if you enjoy food, here is the link.
Also, Fat Dinosty Ep. 2 will be showing at the 24th London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival this March. I am so thrilled to have been asked to show my film again in this event!! What an honor! I wish I could fly out there for it. Ah, someday.
About zines: For anyone interested, big apologies, my life has been so busy for the past good while that I’ve sort of put zine trades/sales/etc out of my mind. I have piles of mail I need to send out to friends and family right now but I am hopeful that I will be getting back with folks about zine stuff in the very near future. My schedule is way less busy this term so maybe I can finally get it together!
I hope all is well for everyone reading this.

And, as promised, info about the workshop:
Hey everyone,
My sweetheart and I are working on an Embodied Activism workshop for the YES (Youth Empowerment and Spiritual Health) Conference on Star Island this summer. Star Island is a seasonal conference center owned by the Unitarian Universalist Association. The workshop at the conference will take place over 5 days (2hrs each day) and be held for youth ages 15-22.
We are hoping to do a trial run (for free of course!) on our friends/family/friends of friends/whoever wants to help out in the Portland area.
If you are interested, or know of anyone who might be interested in participating please let us know. You can be completely knowledgeable in body positivity or have no experience at all! Anyone with an open mind/heart is welcome.
Here is the listing of potential dates and our goals, topics, and hopes for the workshop itself.
Embodied Activism
This workshop is intended to be two-fold: a personal reflection of our own bodies, and a tool for becoming an ally, advocate, and activist for body positivity.
The goal is for participants to experience an intensive re-inventing and re-imagining of the ways we all see, speak, and think about bodies.
For the purposes of the trial run we will be holding the workshop over a 2-3 month period. There will be room for 6-8 participants. We ask that anyone interested please commit to coming to at least the first scheduled workshop and then feel free to attend all or none of the following days. Although, we hope that everyone would try to come to all 4 days.
All of the dates are questionable, we want it to work out for folks who really want to come to be able to, so let us know when is good for you! Saturdays or Sundays are generally what we are aiming for so it would be one of those days during the weekend stated below. Also, as of now we are just planning to have the workshop in our house in N. Portland.
All topics discussed will be presented within the context of body image & body positivity
workshop #1: Oppression + Media/Media Justice – (4.5 hrs) 2nd weekend in February
workshop #2: Personal Growth and Relationships – (2 hrs) last weekend in February or 1st weekend in March
workshop #3: Wellness: Addressing the intersection of food/diet/nutrition with how we perceive bodies – (2 hrs) 2nd weekend in April
workshop #4: Spirituality and Revisiting goals – (2 hrs) last weekend in April
We have a lot of amazing activities/discussions planned and are really excited about having folks participate! Feel free to send Grey or myself an email if you are interested in coming. Try to include what days/times would be good for you and if you would be able to make it to all 4 parts of the workshop.
In the future we hope to be able to offer this workshop, or something like it, to the Portland community and beyond. So if you can’t participate this time around, I am sure there will be possibilities in the future. Feel free to send us your ideas!
Thank you!!
Love,
Erin & Grey
